Sergio Garcia says that his love of TPC Sawgrass is the reason behind his success at the Players Championship.

Sergio Garcia has said that his love of TPC Sawgrass is the reason behind his success at the Players Championship.

Garcia takes a one-shot lead into the third round in Florida after rounds of 68 and 65 put him on 11-under-par, one clear of world number one Tiger Woods.

"(This event) means a lot, it's the Players, it's our tournament and I have had the honour of winning it before and have done fairly well here throughout my career," said Garcia, the winner in 2008 and the leading money winner in the tournament's history with earnings of £2.2m.

"It's one of my favourite golf courses and that usually helps."

Garcia and Woods will play together for the 20th time on the PGA Tour on Saturday. Woods has the edge over the Spaniard, scoring better on 12 of the previous 19 rounds.
