Stephen Gallacher says that victory at the Dubai Desert Classic "tastes sweet".

Stephen Gallacher has said that his nine-year wait for a second European Tour title has made victory at the Dubai Desert Classic taste even sweeter.

The Scot, whose last triumph was at the Dunhill Links Championship in 2004, shot a final-round 71 to finish three shots clear of South Africa's Richard Sterne.

An eagle at the rough at 16 all but clinched the trophy for the 38-year-old, who said that he is now due a trip to church.

"I need to go back to church and say my thank-yous," said Gallacher. "But these days, you need to do something special to win out here. The scoring is so low.

"It's taken a long time to win again and that makes this even sweeter."

Thorbjrrn Olesen and Felipe Aguilar finished tied for third in Dubai.
