Luke Donald calls for a playoff system to be added to the European Tour to eliminate anti-climaxes.

Luke Donald has called for changes to the European Tour format to prevent the tournament ending in an anti-climax.

The DP World Tour Championship will bring the current campaign to a close two weeks after Rory McIlroy emerged as the European Tour money list winner.

"It's a little bit more of an anti-climax than probably the Tour would want," The Metro quotes the Briton as saying.

"A playoff system or some way of making it go down to the wire would make it more exciting."

Donald, who reclaimed his world number two ranking with victory at the Dunlop Phoenix in Japan last weekend, hailed McIlroy's consistency and recent form.

"Thanks Rory for making my achievement look ordinary," he joked. "Rory has made it look pretty easy. His consistency was unmatched by anyone."

The DP World Tour Championship in Dubai gets underway on Thursday, November 22.
