Martin Kaymer: 'Let Tiger Woods concentrate on golf'

Martin Kaymer urges the media to stop speculating about Tiger Woods ahead of The Masters this week.

German golfer Martin Kaymer has urged the media to stop speculating about Tiger Woods in the lead-up to The Masters this week.

Woods's participation in The Masters was covered extensively by the media before the former world number one confirmed his participation in the competition.

"I hope he's happy. I hope he's fine. I hope he will play well this week. But what would bother me a lot is all the speculation. You don't have a choice; you will read about it somewhere. You will hear about it because you socialise with people," Kaymer told reporters.

"So mentally it must be quite exhausting and we know how important the mental part is in golf. It's difficult and some things I don't find very fair. You know, you should just let him be. Let him play golf, what he likes to do."

Martin Kaymer has won the PGA Championship and US Open but his best performance at The Masters was tied 31st in 2014.
