Ian Poulter confirms that he will be fit to play at the British Open, despite picking up a wrist injury last week.

Ian Poulter has confirmed that he will play in the British Open Championship, despite suffering a wrist injury last week.

Poulter had an MRI scan on Monday after picking up the injury during the Scottish Open in Aberdeen, where he missed the cut.

The scan has revealed that Poulter has sustained no serious damage to his wrist.

The 38-year-old tweeted: "Great news with the wrist. On impact I've Jared it and an old ganglion cyst has shown itself. No tendon or damage. Painkillers and crack on."

The Open begins at Hoylake on Thursday.
