Scotland's Martin Laird insists that he was happy with his second-round performance despite dropping two shots on the closing holes.

Martin Laird has revealed that he was pleased to reach the end of his second day with a round of even-par.

The Scot currently shares 10th position on the leaderboard, and despite reaching as high as fourth at one stage, Laird has insisted that he didn't do much wrong on Friday.

The 30-year-old told BBC Sport: "It was a little bit of a struggle to start with, but I was very hot in the middle, making four birdies in a row.

"I didn't do much wrong coming in, it's just hard, but I managed to hang in there and come in on even-par for the day."

Laird has struggled at previous Open Championships, making the cut just once in four attempts.
