Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne has said that he would jump at the chance to replace Mark Webber at Red Bull.
The Australian's future with the team is uncertain following the events of the Malaysian Grand Prix, where teammate Sebastian Vettel ignored team orders to deny him victory.
It is believed that the 36-year-old may retire at the end of the 2013 season, leaving his seat at Red Bull vacant.
When asked by F1 Magazine if he would like the opportunity to join the current world champions, Vergne replied: "I'd love to be that guy - and I'll do everything I can to get there.
"If I perform well then maybe I will get a Red Bull seat. If I am not good enough, they will replace me and I'll lose my place.
"But I'm here [at Toro Rosso] now, I deserve my seat and I have to prove that to everybody by getting good results."
The Frenchman finished 17th in last year's championship.
