Sebastian Vettel slams double points ruling

Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel describes the FIA's decision to award double points to the winner of next season's final race as "absurd".

Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has branded the FIA's decision to award double points to the winner of next season's final race in Abu Dhabi as "absurd".

The sport's governing body announced on Monday that they would be re-structuring the points system in an attempt to increase competition following Vettel's dominance for the past four years.

"This is absurd and punishes those who have worked hard for a whole season," he told Bild. "Imagine if on the last Bundesliga match there would suddenly be double points."

The 2014 Formula 1 season gets underway in Australia in March.
