Father still involved in Max Verstappen's career

Jos Verstappen admits that while he has taken a step back, he is still closely involved in his son's meteoric F1 career.

Jos Verstappen has admitted that while he has taken a step back, he is still closely involved in his son's meteoric F1 career.

It has been suggested that while Toro Rosso were happy for the former Benetton driver to be closely involved, Red Bull have asked Jos to take a step back now that Max has moved up to the top team.

"[Max] already worked alone in Barcelona," Jos is quoted as saying by Finland's MTV.

"I know he is ready for it - he won the race so I think he is quite ready.

"Whether my work is over? I don't think so. I still try to guide and coach him in the right direction."

The season continues this weekend with the Monaco Grand Prix.
