F1 to launch new streaming service
Formula 1 and owners Liberty Media Group announce plans for an over-the-top streaming service called F1 TV to be launched early in the 2018 season.

Formula 1 has officially revealed plans for its new streaming service.

F1 owner Liberty Media has previously spoken of launching its own over-the-top platform since last season.

On Tuesday, a press release on the official F1 website announced that an OTT service called F1 TV will be launched early during the 2018 season, which starts on March 25 in Melbourne, Australia.

The premium service, called F1 TV PRO, will include advert-free live coverage of every session, access to all 20 on-board cameras, press conferences, support races and other exclusive footage.

F1 TV PRO will be made available in four languages - English, French, German and Spanish - and in a number of different markets including Germany, France, USA, Mexico, Belgium, Austria, Hungary and much of Latin America.

Sky has exclusive UK live rights in a deal that runs from 2019 to 2024, which currently precludes the streaming service being offered in the UK before 2025.
