Ross Brawn: 'Lewis Hamilton arrival adds no pressure'

Mercedes boss Ross Brawn believes that Hamilton's arrival will not add any extra pressure to the team.

Mercedes boss Ross Brawn has insisted that Lewis Hamilton's arrival at the team will not add extra pressure.

Hamilton agreed to join Mercedes from McLaren last Friday, despite his future team winning just one race since returning to the sport three years ago.

However, Brawn believes that the pressure to succeed is already present from within the team, and the arrival of Hamilton will not change that.

"I think all of us are under substantial pressure but a lot of it is pressure you generate yourself," said Brawn.

"I think none of us have handcuffs holding us to this business, so there is pressure at every level. We are trying to go forward.

"Most of that pressure for me personally is the pressure from within - not the pressure from a driver or the pressure from a board."

Hamilton is currently second in the drivers' championship, while the highest-placed Mercedes driver is Nico Rosberg in seventh.
