Lewis Hamilton quickest in second practice at Canadian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton goes fastest round the Circuit Gilles Villeneuv in the second practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix, ahead of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.

Lewis Hamilton went one better than he did in the morning session by clocking the fastest time in the second practice run at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Briton was top of the timesheets, ahead of Mercedes teammate and championship leader Nico Rosberg in the evening action at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Fernando Alonso finished quicker than Hamilton in the first session, but Mercedes resumed their season of domination with a one-two in the final warm-up laps before the race in Montreal.

Collectively, Ferrari look the biggest threat to the Silver Arrows this weekend, with Kimi Raikkonen fourth and fifth respectively, although Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel finished third - half a second behind Rosberg.

Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas in the two Williams cars followed, while Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button improved on a good display in the morning to go eighth and ninth quickest.

Toro Rosso rider Jean-Eric Vergne snuck into the top 10, but Vettel's Red Bull colleague Daniel Ricciardo, who has recorded consecutive podium finishes, could only manage to be 12th fastest.

Hamilton has won the Canadian Grand Prix on three occasions.
