Fernando Alonso is reportedly close to signing a deal to rejoin McLaren for the 2015 and 2016 campaigns.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked to the team, which he left after one season back in 2007, after deciding to call time on his four-year spell with Ferrari.
According to BBC Sport, negotiations on a deal, which will include the option of a further year, is close to completion between the two parties, despite initial suggestions that Alonso was going to leave the sport for a year.
Reports have claimed that Alonso's new partner next season is likely to be Kevin Magnussen as opposed to Jenson Button, who has been with McLaren since 2010.
Alonso decided to leave Ferrari two years before the end of his contract following their acquisition of Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull.
