Lotus Renault's Romain Grosjean finishes the British Grand Prix practice faster than his competitors with Daniel Riccardio and Lewis Hamilton in second and third respectively.

Lotus Renault driver Romain Grosjean has set the quickest time in the first practice of the British Grand Prix track at Silverstone.

The 26-year-old set the time of 1:56.552 in a drenched opening practice, which saw Fernando Alonso, Paul Di Resta and Jules Bianchi fail to set a time after deciding against finishing the practice because of the weather.

Daniel Ricciardo set the second-fastest time, while McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton finished the track with the third-quickest pace, which was shortly followed by Sauber's Sergio Perez.

Meanwhile, Jenson Button could only manage the 17th fastest time on the circuit.
