York City manager Jackie McNamara has revealed that Jonathan Greening could feature against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday after re-registering as a player.
Greening, who is a coach at the Minstermen, has not made a Football League appearance for 18 months, but with York being short on numbers in midfield, the former Manchester United player could be involved at Bootham Crescent.
McNamara told the club's official website: "With a number of key midfielders out of action, Jonathan will bring experience to the side which could prove vital for us.
"He played in a behind-closed-doors friendly recently and now he is excited about having the opportunity of playing for York City once more."
Greening made 27 appearances for York at the start of his career.
