Wycombe Wanderers caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth has insisted that he still wants the job permanently despite a disappointing defeat in his opening match in charge.
Ainsworth took temporary charge last week after Gary Waddock was dismissed, but he could not stop Wycombe slipping to a 3-0 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge.
The former QPR midfielder said: "The board know I want to be a manager one day and if it comes quicker than expected then it does.
"If it doesn't then I still want to be a manager one day. They know where I stand.
"But whether I'm caretaker manager or kit man, it doesn't matter. I still want to give 100% for Wycombe to get the points and get this club back where it should be."
Defeat at Dagenham means that the Chairboys are still hovering above the relegation places in League Two, and are yet to register a victory this season.
