Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders says that he is hopeful of adding new players to his squad before the end of the January transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders has admitted that seeing his side lose 2-1 to Blackpool has convinced him that he needs to make changes to his squad.

Saturday's defeat meant that Saunders has yet to win in his first three games in charge at Molineux, and the former Doncaster Rovers boss insists that he is hopeful of adding to his squad before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Saunders told the Birmingham Mail: "I've come in halfway through the transfer window and am having to look and assess the players as quickly as possible - and sometimes a defeat makes your mind up. Things stand out.

"I can look forward now in the next four days and if the players who I think can come in and help us are available, I'm sure we will do that.

"Do I need to sell first? Not really but ideally yes. But we've got one left-back at the club and we've got six or seven right wingers and two experienced strikers."

The defeat against Blackpool has left Wolves seven points above the relegation zone in the Championship table.
