Mick McCarthy ready for relegation scrap

Mick McCarthy claims that the race for survival could go down to the final game of the season.

Mick McCarthy has said that he expects the race for Premier League survival to be decided on the final day of the season.

The Wolves boss, whose side are outside the drop zone on goal difference alone, will look to reduce the five-point deficit between themselves and the Baggies when West Brom travel to Molineux this afternoon.

"These next five games are important but it could go to the last game, and it looks like it will again because it's ever so tight," he said.

"I'd love to be safe with five games to go but I just don't see that happening with the nature of the games and how close we all are.

"That's what we're hoping. If we can win tomorrow, the league would concertina up again."

Wolves could leapfrog Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League with a win this weekend.
