Dean Saunders says that he is "looking forward" to taking on the challenge of turning Wolverhampton Wanderers' Championship season around.

New Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders has insisted that he is "looking forward" to the challenge of reviving the club's season in the Championship.

The 48-year-old was appointed as the former Premier League club's new boss last night, with the side sitting 18th in the table.

"I'm looking forward to it," Saunders told Sky Sports News. "This is a great club, big challenge for me and I'm looking forward to it. It's a tough league and we've got to get to the other end of it.

"We've got to hit the ground running. There's no secret in football, good players working hard and that's where I'll be pointing them. It's a great club and I'm proud to be the manager."

Saunders, who will be officially unveiled as the club's new boss at a press conference this afternoon, replaced Stale Solbakken, who has revealed that he is "very disappointed" to have lost his job.
