Jody Craddock accepts new Wolves deal

Wolves defender Jody Craddock signs for another year at Molineux.

Jody Craddock has signed a new one-year deal to stay with Wolves.

The 35-year-old centre back will begin his ninth season at Molineux after agreeing to the extension, which he described as a "big achievement".

"This time last year I was maybe thinking it would be my last season which was fine," he told the club's official website. "I'm really pleased and proud I've managed to get a new deal."

Craddock was out of the starting lineup for a significant part of last season following a thigh injury but returned for the final run of games.

"I've been keeping myself fit during pre-season to give myself the best possible opportunity to be involved at the start of the season," he added. "If I am involved then great, if not then I'll work as hard as I can to be involved.

"It is a young man's game in a sense of physique and how fit the players are but at some point you do need that experience as well.

"If we get in another centre half then fantastic - it's what we need at Wolves to help the club push on. We all want to become a better team and it's all about what benefits the club. If that means I have to scrap it out with another centre half then so be it."

Meanwhile, Wolves are expected to find out imminently if they have secured the services of Reading centre back Matt Mills.
