Terry Connor "disappointed" with Wolverhampton Wanderers snub

Terry Connor admits that he is "a little bit disappointed" to have been overlooked for the Wolverhampton Wanderers manager's position but concedes "it's the right decision".

Terry Connor has admitted his disappointment at being overlooked for the Wolverhampton Wanderers manager's position.

Former Cologne boss Stale Solbakken was confirmed as the club's new full-time manger on Thursday evening and the Norwegian will take charge at Molineux in July.

Current caretaker Connor, who had been interviewed for the position, will select the team for the final time as Wolves travel to Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

The 49-year-old will then revert to his original role as assistant manager but confesses to feeling slightly hurt by Solbakken's appointment.

He said: "It doesn't matter how hard I worked behind the scenes, my results weren't good enough. I'm a little bit disappointed.

"My kids said the decision wasn't fair. I've always told them they'll get what they deserve if they work hard, but I never told them life was fair.

"No wins and four draws in 12 games. It's the right decision. If this is the best way of getting the club back to the Premier League, then I abide by that. I want to stay and do the best for Wolves."
