Woking fans pass fundraising target for injured Scott Rendell

Woking fans reach their £10,000 fundraising target to help pay costs towards injured striker Scott Rendell's medical treatment.

Woking fans have passed a £10,000 fundraising target to raise money for injured striker Scott Rendell's medical treatment.

Rendell, 28, will be out for the entire season after rupturing his knee ligaments in last Saturday's 1-0 loss to Tranmere Rovers.

Fans raised £1,234 during a collection before Tuesday's National League game against Bromley, while Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter and Crawley defender Joe McNerney were among the former Woking players to contribute.

Club director Ian Nicholson set up a crowdfunding page on Tuesday for help towards Rendell's operation and rehabilitation.

"Wow! We have reached our initial target towards Scott's costs," Nicholson wrote in a statement online.

"Football fans of all ages and many clubs, Premier League and international players, club directors, many Woking fans and Cards players past and present have contributed. Thank you everyone."

Rendell was Cards' top scorer last season with 24 goals.
