AZ vs. Utrecht (Sunday, 11.15am)

Two in-form sides go head-to-head at the AFAS Stadion on Sunday when AZ Alkmaar play host to FC Utrecht in round nine of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season.

The home side are looking to make it three wins on the bounce, while the visitors go in search of a fourth consecutive victory to stay in touch at the top of the standings.

We say: AZ Alkmaar 2-1 FC Utrecht

Of the two sides, Utrecht have made the better start to the season and will fancy themselves to come away with a positive result. However, AZ seem to have rediscovered their midas touch of late, and we are backing them to carry the day, albeit by only a narrow margin.

The teams are separated by just two points and two places in the Eredivisie table which should make for an absorbing affair this weekend.

Two teams in desperate need of a victory face off at the Het Kasteel on Sunday when Sparta Rotterdam play host to fellow strugglers Groningen.

Having picked up just one win apiece from their opening eight fixtures, the sides currently find themselves in the lower echelons of the league table.

The teams are on a rough patch coming into the clash, so we expect a nervy and cagey affair with neither side showing too much adventure. We are also tipping the sides to cancel each other out and settle for a point apiece come the full-time whistle.

Both teams have made a positive start to the campaign with the visitors currently in fourth place, while the home side are two places below in sixth.

After a rough start to the season, Twente have turned a corner in recent weeks and now have an opportunity to move ahead of Willem II, who have been superb since the opening weekend. We expect a close and entertaining contest with a narrow victory for the home side at the end of the 90 minutes.
