Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rosler has revealed that midfielder Ben Watson is an important part of his plans at the DW Stadium.
Rosler only arrived at the Championship outfit earlier this month, but the former Brentford chief is keen to secure the future of the 28-year-old midfielder, who scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final last season.
The 45-year-old told BBC Radio Manchester: "He's a player that I really like in terms of his professionalism and his ability to dictate games. He's big in my plans.
"I've told him that I want to open discussions over a contract extension. That shows you how much I rate the player already after such a short time."
Watson has scored three times in 23 appearances for the Latics during the current campaign.
