New Stoke City midfielders Charlie Adam and Maurice Edu miss out on a starting berth for Stoke in their trip to Wigan this afternoon.

New Stoke City signings Charlie Adam and Maurice Edu have both failed to make it into Tony Pulis's XI for the trip to Wigan this afternoon.

Both midfielders are on the bench for the Potters, who make one change from last week's draw with Arsenal, with Dean Whitehead coming in for Jermaine Pennant.

For the home side, Jean Beausejour replaces Antolin Alcaraz in the only change made by Roberto Martinez, who starts last week's goalscorers Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone up front.

Wigan: Al Habsi; Boyce, Caldwell, Ramis, Figueroa; Maloney, McCarthy, McArthur, Beausejour; Kone, Di Santo
Subs: Pollitt, Jones, Crusat, Watson, Gomez, Boselli, Miyaichi.

Stoke:Begovic; Wilkinson, Huth, Shawcross, Wilson; Cameron, Whelan, Whitehead, Walters, Kightly; Crouch
Subs: Sorensen, Pennant, Jones, Edu, Adam, Upson, Jerome.
