Half-Time Report: Both sides miss chances at the DW Stadium

A defensive Wigan setup makes it difficult for Manchester City.

There were no goals in the opening half at Wigan, despite goalscoring opportunities falling to both sides.

Sergio Aguero spurned an early chance for the visitors, unable to get behind the ball in the air.

Arouna Kone could have made Manchester City pay for the miss just minutes later with a shot for Wigan, but Joe Hart made the save.

Aguero had a second chance set up by David Silva, but hit the side netting.

The champions had an injury scare when Maicon needed treatment after being hit in the throat by the ball, but the Brazilian was able to continue.

Wigan used a defensive formation towards the end of the half, with all 11 players in the final third of the pitch, making it difficult for Man City to create chances.
