Report: West Ham United to rival Crystal Palace for Bafetimbi Gomis

West Ham rival Crystal Palace to sign Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis, according to reports.

West Ham United have reportedly joined Crystal Palace in the race to sign want-away Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis.

The 29-year-old incurred the wrath of manager Garry Monk when he talked up the prospect of leaving the Swans on French television earlier this month.

Monk has since insisted that Gomis, who has found first-team chances hard to come by in his first season in South Wales, would not be leaving the Liberty Stadium.

Nevertheless, Palace have emerged as candidates to offer the Frenchman an escape route but, according to the Daily Mail, the Hammers are also keen.

Swansea have already lost star striker Wilfried Bony to Manchester City, enhancing Gomis's importance, but moves for Blackburn Rovers pair Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes have also been touted.

Gomis has struck one Premier League goal in 18 appearances this season.
