Brazilian keen on West Ham United stay

Nene reveals an ambition to stay with West Ham United beyond the expiration of his short-term deal this summer.

West Ham United forward Nene has revealed that he would like to stay at Upton Park beyond the summer.

Nene, who joined on a free transfer in February, is coming to the end of his short-term deal, but the Brazilian says that he has a taste for English football.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain hitman, who won the golden boot in Ligue 1 during the 2011-12 season, is yet to start a Premier League game but he wants to prove that, at 33, he can still score goals.

"I want to stay," he told London24. "I think it is a great club and the Premier League is really great.

"I arrived so late I want to do an entire season to show that ever at my age I can do my work like before."

Nene has made seven league appearances in total but is yet to open his account in England.
