West Ham United attacker Ricardo Vaz Te has undergone an operation to mend his dislocated shoulder.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during West Ham's recent 3-1 defeat to Arsenal when he accidentally collided with visiting goalkeeper Vito Mannone.
Discussing the procedure, manager Sam Allardyce said that the "best option" was taken in order to prevent the problem from reoccurring.
"We think we've chosen the best option to strengthen the shoulder and get him back as quickly as we can," he said.
"There would have been a slightly quicker option to get him back but we would have been unsure on the stability of the shoulder and it could have been more susceptible to dislocate again."
Vaz Te joined the Hammers in January 2012 for an undisclosed fee.
