Alex Song eyes European Spot at West Ham United

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song acknowledges the importance of today's meeting with Queens Park Rangers to his side's hopes of climbing up the Premier League table.

Alex Song has targeted a top-five finish in the Premier League with West Ham United, saying that playing in Europe next season is a real possibility for the club.

The Hammers are currently languishing in 16th place in the league table having failed to find any real consistency so far this season.

However, the 27-year-old midfielder, who joined the East London outfit on a season-long loan from Barcelona in the summer, says that victory in today's match against Queens Park Rangers can help kick-start a drive up the division.

"The QPR game is very important and we have to win if we want to get into the top 10," Song told the club's official website. "We have to be focused and show our desire to win. We might be able to get Europe if we play very well, it is possible for sure.

"For me it is very important that we aim high. It is also very important for the fans. I'm not saying we'll get into the top four, but we will try to finish as high as possible in the league.

"Everyone is focused on that, it won't be easy with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal who are very strong. But we have to stay positive."
