Martin Peters: 'West Ham United can qualify for Champions League'

West Ham United legend Martin Peters feels that the club can keep up their excellent start to the season to qualify for the Champions League.

West Ham United legend Martin Peters believes that the club are more than capable of qualifying for the Champions League this season.

The Hammers have had an excellent start to their campaign, taking 28 points from their opening 16 matches, which sees them reside in the top four of the Premier League.

Peters, who won the World Cup with England in 1966, feels that Sam Allardyce has his team playing in the right way, and is adamant that his side have the ability to remain with the top clubs in the league until the end of the season.

He told The Mirror: "They have been great this season. Sam Allardyce has done well – he has bought some really good new players and done really well. They are doing the right things and are winning.

"They are really good to watch and knocking the ball around nicely. I enjoy watching them win. I can see them carrying on and finishing in the top four if they continue the way they are playing and scoring the goals.

"They are playing the team bottom of the league next so I just hope they don't take it for granted and think they are going to win easily. Over Christmas, they have got Arsenal and Chelsea, so they have got some tough games coming up, and they will tell us a lot, but they deserve to be fourth."

West Ham play Leicester City in their next top-flight outing later today.
