Manuel Pellegrini: 'Fans are still with the team'

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini insists that the club's supporters are still behind the team.

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that the club's supporters are still behind the team despite many showing their dissatisfaction with Monday's 3-1 loss at home to Arsenal.

The Hammers led at the interval of the Premier League clash courtesy of a deflected header from Angelo Ogbonna, but the visitors scored three times in the second half to secure all three points.

A number of the West Ham fans left the stadium when Arsenal's third went in, while the final whistle was blown with many more of the supporters deciding to make a quick exit.

Pellegrini, though, has rejected suggestions that the fanbase are losing faith in the team, who are currently just one point off the relegation zone in the Premier League table.

"If you get one point from five games at home and concede three goals in three games, you can't expect them to be happy and not to boo," Pellegrini told reporters.

"But I don't feel that the fans are not behind the team. There are 60,000 here for every game. If they are not, the stadium would be empty, but it is always full."

West Ham will be looking to return to winning ways when they travel to Southampton in the Premier League this weekend.
