West Ham United's Cheikhou Kouyate has red card rescinded by the FA

West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has his red card rescinded by the Football Association following Saturday's sending-off against Crystal Palace.

The Football Association has overturned the red card issued to West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate during last weekend's Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

Referee Mark Clattenburg brandished the straight red to Kouyate for a foul on Dwight Gayle while the Hammers were 2-1 up at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon.

Eight minutes after the midfielder's sending-off, Gayle scored an equaliser, earning Alan Pardew's side a point on away turf.

After the match, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic criticised the referee's decision, claiming that it had a "huge impact" on the outcome of the game.

The club lodged an appeal to the governing body, whose regulatory commission has rescinded the red card, meaning that Kouyate will no longer serve a three-match ban.

The 26-year-old would have missed Premier League games against Arsenal and Leicester City, as well as an FA Cup quarter-final replay against Manchester United.
