West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic aims to make Olympic Stadium a fortress

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic says that the team will make the Olympic Stadium an 'exciting' place for fans.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has insisted that his team will transform the Olympic Stadium into a fortress when the club move in next year.

The Hammers will move to Stratford in the summer of 2016 to take up base at the home of the London 2012 Games.

Bilic is hopeful that the team can match the ambitions of the owners when they take residence at the ground, but is aware that it may take time on the pitch.

"[The stadium is] brilliant, it gives you shivers," Bilic told the club's official website. "We are really looking forward to it and it makes you really excited when you come here. It's a great move for the club, it's a great move for everyone. It will be brilliant to see 54,000 Hammers under one roof. We are really looking forward to next season.

"The players are talking about it and they asked me about the new stadium. I said it's a big step up for the club, it shows the ambition of the chairmen and the board and they are trying to make a club that is already a huge, massive club even bigger. This shows their ambition and I think we're going the right way.

"You have to stay on the ground, and we have to plan slowly and we have to be realistic. There are no borders, to be fair, the sky is the limit, but step by step."

The Hammers are currently sixth in the Premier League table after six wins, three draws and three defeats.
