Sam Allardyce hopes that West Ham can bounce back from their Wigan defeat in their game against Manchester City.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has targeted an improvement for his side after the disappointing 2-1 defeat at Wigan Athletic last Saturday.

Allardyce has said that he hopes the Wigan performance was a "one-off" but is looking forward to the challenge of Manchester City at the weekend.

"It gives the players a warning sign that anything less than 100% when you're newly promoted means it will reflect on you in terms of the result and it did," The Independent quotes Allardyce as saying.

"I can only hope it is a one-off in the type of performance that we gave and even after all that we nearly sneaked a draw at the end with a few chances we did create.

"I'm looking to get back to what we do best and of course having to do that against Manchester City."

West Ham are currently ninth in the Premier League with 14 points from nine games.
