Adrian fit to face Sunderland despite dislocated finger

West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian will be fit for this weekend's match against Sunderland despite dislocating his finger before last Saturday's defeat to Arsenal.

West Ham United have confirmed that goalkeeper Adrian will be fit to face Sunderland this weekend despite dislocating his finger before Saturday's defeat to Arsenal.

The Hammers shot-stopper sustained the injury in the warm-up at the Emirates Stadium but went on to play the full 90 minutes as his side slumped to a 3-0 loss.

Adrian has received treatment on the problem and taken part in reduced training as a result, but the club's head of medical and sports science Stijn Vandenbroucke has confirmed that he will be available for the Black Cats' visit to Upton Park.

"Although Adrian dislocated his finger in the warm-up ahead of the Arsenal game at the weekend, he had it put back in and taped up by physiotherapist Dominic Rogan before the game," Vandenbroucke told the club's official website.

"Adrian played through the pain, which is not to be underestimated, and he too will be available to face Sunderland.

"Adrian avoided a fracture and ligament damage, so he has been receiving treatment by wearing a brace during the night this week to ensure his finger remains pointing in the right direction. He was held out of one training session as a precaution but he will be ready to play on Saturday."

West Ham have picked up just three points from the last 21 available to drop down to 10th place in the Premier League table.
