West Bromwich Albion are reportedly close to signing Marseille duo Jordan Ayew and Morgan Amalfitano.

With the news that striker Nicolas Anelka could retire following the recent death of his agent, the Baggies are desperate to try to land some late deals in the current window.

Both Ayew and Amalfitano are out of favour at the Stade Velodrome and are keen to secure some first-team football.

According to L'Equipe, Les Phoceens have agreed to loan the pair to The Hawthorns, although it is unclear as to whether either player would accept the move.

The 21-year-old Ayew operates as a striker while Amalfitano, 28, is a midfielder.
