Shane Long is out for up to six weeks with a knee injury, a scan reveals.

Shane Long could be out of action for six weeks with a knee injury, West Brom confirmed tonight.

The 24-year-old striker, who joined The Baggies from Reading in August, was injured in a strong challenge from Alan Hutton during their game with Aston Villa on Saturday.

The club said that Long, a ROI international, has suffered "severe bone bruising and a small bone chip inside his right knee".

Earlier, manager Roy Hodgson described Hutton's challenge as "wicked".

West Brom's upcoming slate for the next month includes Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal.
