West Bromwich Albion's Tony Pulis: 'We've cleared the air with Saido Berahino'

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis reveals that the entire squad held clear-the-air talks about Saido Berahino's transfer saga at the end of the transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has admitted that the club held clear-the-air talks following Saido Berahino's threat to go on strike.

The 22-year-old revealed his intention to go on strike after Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace refused to sell the forward to Tottenham Hotspur in the final days of the transfer window.

Berahino reneged on his threat, but Pulis revealed that the entire team held discussions about the situation with the England Under-21 international to resolve their issues and move on from the incident.

He told Sky Sports News: "There was a meeting with Saido. I think the players have had full reign, it's not like I've stopped them talking to Saido or pulled him to one side and put him in the corner.

"It wasn't a meeting just about Saido, it was a meeting where Saido was in with the players where things got mentioned. It's not a case of backing him, they know he's a good player. We've had a meeting and it's exactly the same as I've told you, young people make mistakes.

"He is very young and very impressionable and I'm sure if he could have done it again he would have done it differently. The important thing is to get the kid back to what he was before the window opened."

The Baggies face Midlands rivals Aston Villa later today at Villa Park.
