West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine calls for stability

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine believes that the club can benefit from having stability in the manager's role.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine has expressed his belief that the club can benefit from stability following the derby victory over Aston Villa which has eased pressure on him.

The Baggies recorded a 1-0 victory over their West Midlands rivals at The Hawthorns on Saturday, which was their first win in six league outings.

Irvine, who was the bookmakers' favourite to be sacked first in the Premier League this season, says that clubs rarely prosper when there are regular changes in management.

"It's proven that if you get constant change, things don't settle down," he told the Express & Star. "Stability is something that every club is striving for.

"Whether I'm the right man for that remains to be seen but I'm sure it's what the chairman and the board would want. I'm sure they don't make changes lightly."

West Brom are currently 14th in the table.
