West Bromwich Albion winger Chris Brunt has backed striker Markus Rosenberg to fire upfront next season.

The Sweden international joined the Baggies last August from Werder Bremen and found the net in Steve Clarke's side's pre-season defeat to Hannover.

Brunt told the club's official website: "It was good to see Markus get on the scoresheet for the second successive game and hopefully he can keep that going and build some confidence.

"He deserves it, he's a good lad, works hard and we all want him to do well. With Rom [Lukaku] going back to Chelsea and Peter [Odemwingie] out of the equation, he could maybe replace some of the goals we've lost."

Rosenberg failed to find the net in 25 appearances for the Baggies last season.
