Ashworth takes up FA role
The Football Association appoint West Bromwich Albion's Dan Ashworth as their director of elite development.

West Bromwich Albion's Dan Ashworth will become the FA's director of elite development next summer.

Ashworth had been linked with the vacancy for a number of months as the FA move closer to transferring their base to St George's Park.

The Baggies have now confirmed the speculation on Twitter, although Ashworth will remain in his role as their technical and sporting director until the end of the current Premier League season.

"Dan Ashworth named FA Director of Elite Development. He'll remain as Albion S&T Director until next summer and will help find successor," read the short statement.

Ashworth has held his post with West Brom since 2007.
