Ben Davies: 'Wales do not fear Europe's elite - they should fear us'

Ben Davies warns Europe's elite that Wales will be bringing a fearless mentality with them to France for Euro 2016.

Ben Davies has suggested that he and his 'fearless' Wales teammates can ruffle feathers at Euro 2016 next summer.

Chris Coleman led the Welsh to their first major tournament in 58 years after finishing second in Group B, two points behind Belgium - from whom they took four points.

Being in pot four, Wales are expected to be handed a tricky group-stage draw, but the Tottenham Hotspur left-back believes that Europe's elite will be just as keen to avoid them.

"There isn't a team we are fearing playing. And there are a few teams who wouldn't want to play against us, which is something for Welsh football which is pretty new to us but something we are enjoying," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "We are going to go to this tournament seeing how far we can go and there aren't really any massive expectations on us.

"We have to start off solid at the back as a backbone and then set up the chances for the likes of Gareth [Bale] to go and score goals and win games. As a team we have been organised and committed to not conceding and I think it has really shown on the field. And we have quality up the field which can get us a goal out of nothing.

"Some games we will be on the back foot, but if we are confident we can let teams have the ball and we are not going to get broken down, then we don't mind that sometimes. In previous campaigns we conceded a lot of goals and that was something we needed to stop. I think the performances we have put in throughout the campaign will stand us in good stead for next summer. Belgium are now ranked best in the world and we kept them out twice which is a good effort for any team."

The draw will take place on December 12.
