Swansea City's Ashley Williams: 'Open start makes Premier League more interesting'

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams believes that the unpredictable nature of the Premier League this season has made the competition more entertaining.

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has claimed that the open start to the season has made the Premier League more "entertaining".

Champions Chelsea have endured a miserable start to the campaign and are currently in 16th place in the table, while Crystal Palace and Leicester City sit in and around the Champions League places after eight matches.

Swansea have had inconsistent opening to the season, but Williams believes that his side are more than capable of pushing up the league with a solid run of form.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's very difficult to get into that top group, especially the top four, but you'd like to think, for the good of the league, that a team can push in there.

"We had a good season last season, Southampton as well, so it's getting a bit closer. You'll always get one that will make a go of it, and I think it makes for a more entertaining and interesting league - it's not just always the same teams.

"You see the way Palace and Leicester have started, so it just shows that with a bit of confidence, and a little bit of momentum in the league, you can find yourself in a position you probably thought you wouldn't be in."

Swansea play Stoke City on Monday at the Liberty Stadium.
