Garry Monk "disappointed" in Roberto Martinez's 'negative' Swansea City remarks

Garry Monk says that he is "disappointed" in Roberto Martinez's criticism of Swansea City's style of play against Everton in Saturday's goalless draw.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has criticised Everton boss Roberto Martinez for accusing the Welsh side of being negative during Saturday's match at Goodison Park.

The Spaniard claimed that Swansea abandoned their free-flowing football philosophy and took the tempo out of the game in their goalless draw on Merseyside.

"I just think what Roberto said was borne out of frustration at his own team's performance and the fact they were unable to break us down or have a meaningful shot on our goal," the South Wales Evening Post quotes Monk as saying.

"I'm disappointed because I think Roberto's deflecting attention from his own team by blaming the opposition. Everton didn't have a shot on target in the second half."

Swansea also lost Jonjo Shelvey in the second half after he was sent off for a second booking.
