Report: Sam Allardyce to sell Jermain Defoe, Sebastian Larsson

A report suggests that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce will consider selling Jermain Defoe and Sebastian Larsson when the transfer window reopens in January.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is considering allowing Jermain Defoe and Sebastian Larsson to leave the club in January, according to a report.

Defoe has started just one game for the Black Cats since Allardyce's arrival at the club in October, leaving the striker frustrated in his role at the Stadium of Light.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has struggled to hold down a starting place up front since his move from Toronto FC in January, leading Allardyce to mull over whether to sell the 33-year-old.

The 61-year-old will also consider the future of Larsson to cut the wage bill in order to bring his targets to Wearside in their fight against relegation from the Premier League, reports The Telegraph.

Sunderland are 19th in the Premier League after 12 matches this season.
