Sebastian Larsson says that a loss of confidence was behind Sunderland's failure to defeat Norwich City yesterday afternoon.

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has conceded that his side "lacked confidence" during yesterday's encounter against Norwich City at the Stadium of Light.

The visiting Canaries played an hour with just 10 men after their goalkeeper Mark Bunn was red carded, but Sunderland were unable to make their numerical advantage count as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Reflecting on the performance, Sweden international Larsson admitted that Sunderland were not good enough following Bunn's dismissal.

"They were down to 10 men fairly early and we got back into the game through Gards's (Craig Gardner) penalty. We've got to win the game after that. Simple as that," he told the club's official website.

"We lacked confidence, if I'm completely honest. We had a lot of possession and we didn't create as many chances as we should have."

The draw has left the Black Cats 15th in the Premier League standings, four points above the relegation zone.
