Gus Poyet delighted with FA "honesty" in Wes Brown appeal

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet says that he is delighted with the FA's honesty during the successful appeal of Wes Brown's red card.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has said that he is "delighted" with the Football Association's handling of Wes Brown's red-card appeal.

The defender was sent off in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United after a collision with Radamel Falcao, but replays proved that John O'Shea committed the foul on the Colombian.

The FA rescinded the red card on Monday afternoon.

"I'm very pleased and I'm delighted with the honesty of the process," Poyet told the club's official website.

"The FA knew that a mistake had been made and it has been corrected in the right way, so I'm delighted with the decision.

"Since Wes has come back he's shown how important he is for us and how committed he is, so it would have been a shame not have to him available for tomorrow's big game."

The successful appeal means that both Brown and O'Shea are available for Sunderland's trip to Hull City on Tuesday.
