Costel Pantilimon elated with Tyne-Wear derby win

Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon admits that it was an "unbelievable feeling" to record a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in his first Tyne-Wear derby.

Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon has revealed that he was elated to help his side record a victory over Newcastle United in his first experience of the Tyne-Wear derby.

Adam Johnson struck in the 90th minute the hand the Black Cats their fourth win in a row over the Magpies, while Pantilimon made two excellent saves to keep a clean sheet at St James' Park.

"Obviously the players tell me about the atmosphere and the fans have told me how big a game it is but now I can fully appreciate it," Pantilimon told the club's official website.

"The feeling coming of the pitch after having won is unbelievable. It's a very great moment for the team and I am very happy with the result.

"I did my job this afternoon – as did everyone else on the pitch – it was a great team effort and we helped each other through the game. We looked good out there today and I hope it will continue."

Gus Poyet's men are now 14th in the Premier League following their win over the Magpies.
