John O'Shea has recovered from a hamstring injury to make his Sunderland debut on Saturday.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has revealed that John O'Shea is ready to make his debut for the club.

A hamstring injury sustained during pre-season ruled the former Manchester United defender out of Sunderland's opening league matches, but Bruce believes that he is now fit enough to make his first appearance this Saturday away at Swansea City.

"We'll need his experience at Swansea and it'll be a big boost to the team. He's someone who I know will be able to handle the situation," Bruce told the Evening Chronicle.

"You can see his influence straight away after he's joined in training. It's huge.

"He's worked like a beast to be fair. He's been at the training ground from 9am every day. His sheer professionalism is excellent and that's why he's been at the top for so long."

The Black Cats reportedly paid United £5m for the Republic of Ireland international in July.
